The right path (Sunnah) is the Prophet's path. May Allah make us be amongst those that are good listeners and followers.
Today is one of the greatest days of the year, Yawm Al-Nahr, the Day of the Sacrifice. As the Prophet (PBUH) has said, our Eid are days of eating and drinking and worshiping Allah. The Prophet (PBUH) has also said that we must start the day by praying, followed by sacrifice/slaughtering. Whoever completes this practice in this order is considered a loyal follower of Sunnah.
There are four conditions where an animal CANNOT be a suitable candidate for sacrifice:
If the animal is one-eyed or cross-eyed
If the animal is sick
If the animal walks with a limp
If the animal is old and weak, unable to hold its own body weight
The women are advised by Allah and the Prophet (PBUH) to prevent themselves from listening to men who might take advantage or manipulate them or ultimately distract them from the right path. They too must maintain their prayers and Zakat (charity) and listen to Allah and the Prophet (PBUH). Allah will protect and purify them from sins.
A hadith of the Prophet (PBUH): If the woman prays all five prayers, fasts during Ramadan, maintains her chastity and obeys her husband, she will be allowed to enter Paradise by door of her choice.
On this day, we remember the story of the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham (PBUH) and his son, Prophet Ismael (PBUH). This story has taught us lessons on obeying Allah, following his rules from a sincere, believing heart, and being patient when facing fate and destiny. Ever since the events of this story took place, the act of sacrificing on Eid day began.
May Allah have mercy on all of us and forgive our sins. May Allah bring these good days back to us with health and peace.
