Part of Allah’s mercy and generosity is that he has given us multiple times throughout the year where the worship is worth more; the first 10 days of this month are one of these times. These are the well-known days of Al-Hajj, and we all know the value of Hajj. The Prophet (PBUH) encouraged us to take advantage of these times, as there is a possibility to reach full forgiveness. We are aware that the Prophet (PBUH) has informed us that the average lifespan of this nation is around 60-70. Although the average lifespan is relatively short, there are certain times where worship is worth decades; for example Laylat al Qadr, which is worth over 80 years of worship. The first 10 days of this month also have a heavy value of worship. Allah rewards us these 10 days for fasting, praying, and donating to charity. Of these 10 days, there is the day of Araffa. It is one of the holiest and best days of the year. The Dua and fasting reward is worth much more than the other days. On the 10th day of this month, we celebrate Eid, the day of Nahr. This is considered the greatest day by Allah.

Now, after understanding the value of these 10 days, what should we be doing?

  • Tawba: asking Allah sincerely to forgive us, and to have all the intention not to repeat any sins

  • Clean our souls from all our sins and misbehaviors

  • If feeling guilty due to shortage of prayers/fasting, it is time to makeup for it

  • Making Dua and Zikr should be continuous

  • Donating and helping the poor (especially close relatives and family members) should be maximized

  • Refrain from all bad habits such as (lying, delaying prayers, cursing, etc.) , and maintain all good behaviors hereafter

May Allah accept our prayers and sincere worship.
