One of the many companions of the Prophet (PBUH) was Khalid Ibn Waleed Ibn Al-Mugeera from Adnan descent. His father, Al-Waleed, was a rich and famous man in Mecca. He was well known for his generosity, and he praised the Quran when he first heard it from the Prophet (PBUH). However, later on, after being blamed by the disbelievers for being manipulated by the Prophet (PBUH) into converting to Islam, he took back all of the praises he said about the religion and became an even worse disbeliever. He had a big family, and was a father to over forty sons. Khalid grew up in Mecca, and was very skilled in horseback riding and different war skills. He had a brave personality and strong body, which allowed him to qualify as an advanced army leader.

Khalid Ibn Waleed was a tall, strong, white man that resembled Omar Ibn Khatab. Khalid was not well-known during the beginning of Islam in Mecca. After the Hijra from Mecca to Medina, several wars broke out. Khalid was not involved in Badr, however, his brother, Waleed, had sided with the disbelievers and was imprisoned by the Muslim army. Later, Khalid and his brother Hesham went to Medina and paid Al-Fidea (money in exchange for their imprisoned brother’s release). Later on, Waleed had accepted Islam, converted, and moved back to Medina. Khalid Ibn Waleed later joined the disbliever’s army during the Battle of Ohd and helped them achieve victory.

Khalid’s journey to become a Mulsim began when the Prophet (PBUH) spoke his brother, Al- Waleed, who brought the message to Khalid about Islam. Al-Waleed explained to Khalid that he would be a brave man if he fought alongside the Muslims. Khalid then accepted the message of Islam and decided to move from Mecca to Medina.

Khalid took part in many battles during the Prophet’s (PBUH) lifetime and after. He did an excellent job in planning strategies for the war, and they are still well known to this day. May Allah bless Khalid Ibn Waleed and all of the Prophet’s (PBUH) companions.
